Approximately six months have passed since the active shooter incident at our home office. What started as a normal day on September 19, 2018, changed in an instant and changed my life and the lives of our employees forever. And while tragedy is a word often used to describe that day, I think it’s important to note that the story doesn’t end there.
Rather, we at Paradigm also view that day through the lens of courage, heroism, compassion, and service. These are the qualities we all gratefully witnessed in more than 350 first responders who raced to our aid without hesitation or concern for their own wellbeing.
It’s in that spirit of deep gratitude that Paradigm recently hosted a ceremony honoring the law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMS workers, medical and mental health personnel who selflessly helped us last September and continue to support us today.
Paradigm employees gathered to present the many responders attending the ceremony a commemorative wooden box containing fragments of broken glass shattered during the incident. The date of their brave response is engraved on the box, along with a message from everybody at Paradigm:
“We stepped over this broken glass to safety because of you. We won’t forget. Thank you for what you did for us at Paradigm that day and what you do every day. You are a hero.”
As we move forward, I’m impressed and encouraged by how our staff and the Paradigm organization have recovered.
This year marks our 20th year in business, and business is great. Our team continues to develop product ideas and innovations that amaze me.
Our office space is repaired and newly remodeled with many improvements and more space for our expanding staff. We’re all looking forward to reclaiming our home in what will surely be an emotional, yet triumphant, milestone.
On behalf of Paradigm employees, their families and our community, we sincerely thank everybody — from the first responders who were there for us on a terrible day, to our friends, colleagues, and customers who continue supporting us. We truly appreciate you.
